Team News: Moyes gives update on Zouma, Paquetá, Cornet and Ings

David Moyes has offered an update on the fitness of Kurt Zouma, Maxwel Cornet and Lucas Paquetá ahead of West Ham United’s Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers head to the London Stadium looking to stretch a home unbeaten run to three matches following a win over Everton and a draw against Chelsea in the first two league matches at London Stadium in 2023 – and will be buoyed by the return of three key individuals to training this week.

While a way off competitive involvement, Moyes was pleased to see Cornet and Zouma back in training, with Lucas Paquetá also confirmed as making an initial return to action at Rush Green training ground.

"Kurt Zouma is back in training,” said Moyes. “Maxwel Cornet is also back in training. Lucas Paquetá is doing a little bit. They're probably the main ones, who have been injured.”

[The players] are fully committed, totally focused on the job and true professionals. Our players are the ones who cross the white-line and we're looking forward to seeing what they can produce [on Saturday].

Speaking on Friday afternoon, the boss also discussed Danny Ings’ progress. The striker, who joined the Club in January from Aston Villa, picked up a slight knock on his debut in the 2-0 win against Everton.

Since then, the experienced striker has featured from the bench on three more occasions for the Irons. And while Moyes was happy to see Ings back in training, he was clear to signal that he would not rush the forward into the starting XI.

"I think that Danny Ings is getting fit now," added Moyes. "He got an injury in his first game after 30 seconds and, if you look through our injuries this season, it’s been quite incredible. I’m not one who wants to dwell too much on injuries but we’ve had a different year in terms of injuries, right from the start of the season.

"Getting Danny fit now is really important to us. I want Danny to get chances to show exactly why we brought him here.

"I think Danny Ings’ reputation speaks for itself. He has scored goals at every single club he has played for. I’m hoping he can reproduce that here. Unfortunately, he picked up a bit of a knee injury in his first game, or maybe we’d have seen a bit more of him so far. But he’s getting ready now and he’s settling in."
