West Ham United can confirm the development team’s pre-season schedule ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Mark Robson’s young Hammers will test themselves against European opposition and a range of teams from across the English Football League in preparation for the new campaign in Premier League 2 Division 1.
The U23s will begin pre-season by joining the senior team in the Scottish city of St Andrews as first-team manager David Moyes takes the squad back to familiar surroundings for a third consecutive summer to build up fitness.
After a short return to the Rush Green Training Ground, the development side will fly to Portugal for a five-day training camp and the side’s first pre-season fixture of the summer. The young Hammers will face their Sporting Lisbon counterparts on Saturday 9 July.
The second pre-season fixture will take Robson’s U23s into Kent for a fixture with National League South side Ebbsfleet United. The Hammers and the Fleet will meet on Friday 15 July.
A trip to the south coast will then follow for the development team, on Tuesday 19 July, when the U23s face their counterparts at AFC Bournemouth.
A week later, on Tuesday 26 July, the young Irons will play their fourth match of the pre-season fixture schedule with a trip to EFL League One side Lincoln City. The Imps finished 17th in League One in the 2021/22 campaign.
Pre-season preparations will conclude for the U23s with a local fixture, against Dagenham & Redbridge at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Saturday 30 July.
Ticket details for each of the U23s’ pre-season matches will be confirmed in due course.
