Welcome Emma Snerle

West Ham United Women bring in promising Danish midfielder Emma Snerle

West Ham United Women are delighted to announce the signing of promising midfielder Emma Snerle, subject to work permit approval.

The 20-year-old joins the Hammers from Fortuna Hjørring in her native Denmark, and has signed a two-and-a-half year contract in east London.

Snerle has 22 caps for her country, having made her senior debut in 2019. Before breaking into the senior Denmark squad, she had made 36 appearances at U19, U17 and U16 level.

Since making her Hjørring first team debut in 2017, Snerle has made 68 starts, scoring 30 times and will now make the move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Snerle has been in fine form this season domestically, scoring 13 goals in 14 matches for her previous employers, who play in the Elitedivisionen and have been crowned champions of the division ten times.

Snerle also has UEFA Champions League experience, appearing three times in the competition last term, scoring once.

And Snerle is hoping to continue the good form that she has shown this season here with West Ham United.

"I'm just happy to be here and excited to get started," she told West Ham TV.

“It's a big league, a big club and I'm just really excited to get started.

“I'm an attacking midfielder. I like to be creative and make my teammates look good. I also want to score myself.

“I'm just hoping from the beginning to get some minutes and get to know the girls, get to know the style of play, and then getting into it. And, of course, winning games with the team, and doing well!”

"Emma is a young player who has a lot of promise. She’s been playing regularly with the Danish national team, and over the course of the last couple of seasons, has been the standout young player in Denmark," the manager noted.

"She’s a dynamic player who likes to carry the ball into midfield, is a very intelligent creative player and has a lot of potential. We're pleased that she's chosen West Ham United to continue her development.

"Our Club ethos is to develop young players, not only from this country, but up-and-coming players from other areas around the world. Emma has a bright future and we’ve decided to invest in her as we feel she can develop into a fantastic player."

Everybody at West Ham United would like to welcome Emma to east London and wishes her all the best during her time in Claret and Blue.
