Swyer finished the season with ten Premier League 2 appearances (registering one assist), as well as a first EFL Trophy outing and 17 appearances for the U18s (registering two goals and three assists), to his name.

He scored his first goal at development level with a header against Everton in the 2021/22 Premier League 2 Division 1 fixture on Saturday 2 October. The midfielder would go on to make 32 appearances in all competitions for the U23s in the 2021/22 season, scoring six goals.

Swyer would kick on in the 2022/23 season, becoming a senior figure for the U21s and scoring seven goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for the side. His development and form saw the advanced midfielder earn his first team debut, playing 13 minutes as a substitute in the 3-0 win away to FCSB in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stages.

He would also be involved in the matchday squad for the qualifying round second leg against Viborg FF, and the FA Cup clashes against Brentford and Manchester United.
