Fresh from his international debut on Saturday afternoon, Jarrod Bowen was presented with his legacy England cap by manager Gareth Southgate at England's training camp in Munich on Monday morning.
The 25-year-old became the 44th West Ham United player to represent the Three Lions when he started against Hungary in a 1-0 defeat – a fine reward for his incredible form at Club level which saw him involved in 31 goals in 51 appearances for the Hammers across a memorable campaign.
And despite England falling to defeat at the Puskás Aréna, Bowen impressed on the international stage - one of the few positives from the loss, their first within 90 minutes in some 23 matches and 19 months.
The tenacious forward was involved throughout the evening, always looking to cause problems in behind the Hungarian backline.
Bowen produced a hooked volley which was saved by goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi in the second half, before firing a threatening low ball across the face of goal at the end of a tricky run, and later sending a snap-shot over from range.
Ultimately, however, a controversial decision to award Hungary a penalty following a challenge by Reece James led to Dominik Szoboszlai slamming home from 12 yards.
A brilliant achievement 👏@_JarrodBowen 🦁⚒ pic.twitter.com/YwaQrj8Whe
