West Ham United will kick off our pre-season fixture schedule against Swiss Super League side Servette in Geneva on Friday 8 July.
The friendly match is to take place at the Stade de Genève (kick-off 6pm local time, 5pm BST) and will round off the Hammers’ week-long training camp in nearby Évian, France.
Servette, who include former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Gaël Clichy among their ranks, finished sixth in the ten-team Swiss Super League in 2021/22. They are one of Switzerland’s oldest and most successful clubs, winning 17 national titles and seven Swiss Cups since their formation in 1890.
Nicknamed Les Grenats (The Maroons), Servette are managed by former Swiss defender Alain Geiger, who made his senior international debut against England in November 1980 - a match that included Trevor Brooking in the opposition team – and won his 112th and final cap against England again at the 1996 European Championship finals.
Following the encounter in Geneva, David Moyes’s squad will return to England ahead of four more friendly matches already confirmed. On Tuesday 12 July, Moyes will split his squad, with one team heading up the A12 to Suffolk to face EFL League One side Ipswich Town, while the other travel to National League outfit Boreham Wood. Both games will kick-off at 7pm.
The Hammers’ next fixture will be played at 3pm on Saturday 16 July, when they travel to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to tackle EFL Championship opponents in Reading. The Hammers faced the same opponents at the same venue last summer, winning 3-0.
A week later, on Saturday 23 July, Championship Play-Off semi-finalists Luton Town will host West Ham at Kenilworth Road in another 3pm kick-off.
Ticket information for the match in Geneva, along with West Ham United’s other pre-season friendlies, will be published here on whufc.com in due course.
