Paul Konchesky says that his side have to give 100% in their final four Barclays Women's Super League matches of the 2022/23 season - starting with Sunday's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The West Ham United Women's boss is hoping that his side can put a wretched run of form behind them, which has seen them pick up two points in the WSL since the turn of the year.
Games agains Chelsea, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur follow this Sunday's tie at Broadfield Stadium against the Seagulls, and Konchesky is hoping to see his team pick up some valuable points as they look to return to a similar vein of form to which they showed in the first three months of the season.
The 41-year-old knows that it will certainly be tough, but has backed his team to give 100% in their remaining fixtures, starting against Melissa Phillips' side on Sunday.
It’s another opportunity for us to get the win that we’re craving.
We all know that our recent results in the WSL haven’t been good enough, but it’s frustrating because there have been a number of games where we have actually performed to a good standard.
Even against Manchester City – you take out the mistakes we made in the first half and I thought we were good value. We need to find consistency throughout the 90 minutes, which is tough in such a strong league like this – but those that find it tend to do well.
We’ve had a lot of time to prepare for this game.
That can be good and bad, but we’ve left no stone unturned because it’s a very important match and it’s one that we want to get maximum points from.
Brighton will be strong opponents; they’ve had three different people in charge this season but with Melissa Phillips they seem to have found some form and look like a really determined outfit. We know what they’re good at but we also know where we can hurt them if we get the ball into the right areas.
Her London City Lionesses team have always given us a really tough match when we’ve faced them in the Conti Cup, and that’s what we will expect from her Brighton side on Sunday.
We have four games left and we want to give 100% in all of them.
That’s all I can ask from my team, and it’s something I’ve repeated all season. My team has to work hard, battle for every blade of grass with the aim of trying to get points on the board.
We had a brilliant first half of the season, but we’re in danger of letting that fall away. Things haven’t gone our way since the turn of the year, but these next four games give us an opportunity to show how strong we are as a team, and that results haven’t been reflective of how good we are as a group.
We will need your support during the final four fixtures.
It’s always great to have an away following, no matter how big or small – and we’re grateful to everyone who spends their money following us up and down the country.
These four games will determine where we end up this season and how happy we are with it overall so if you can come and support us at any of them, then we’re extremely thankful.
