West Ham United welcomed Blackburn Rovers to London Stadium for a Carabao Cup third round tie on Wednesday night.
The Hammers' start was far from ideal, however, as Jack Vale gave the Championship side a sixth minute lead.
David Moyes' men got a hold of the ball as they looked for a way back in the opening period, but Blackburn's organisation in defence limited our chances until Pablo Fornals pounced on a loose ball to fire home a 38th minute equaliser.
West Ham kept up the pressure after the break and broke through for a second time 12 minutes from the end when Jarrod Bowen knocked a far-post cross back to Michail Antonio, who drilled low into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 2-1.
However, two minutes from time Ben Brereton Díaz struck a leveller and that took the contest to an epic penalty shootout, which Blackburn won 10-9.
