Paolo Di Canio made one goal and scored the other as West Ham United swept Blackburn Rovers aside at the Boleyn Ground on 27 February 1999.

The Italian created the opener for Ian Pearce on 28 minutes, collecting a Steve Lomas pass on the right wing and crossing for the No19 to rise above his marker and power a header past John Filan in the Blackburn goal.

And it was 2-0 three minutes later when Lomas, Frank Lampard and Eyal Berkovic combined superbly to set up Di Canio to score his first goal in Claret and Blue from six yards out.

The Hammers went on to finish a record-high fifth in the Premier League that season, while Rovers finished 19th and were relegated.
