Scotland international Kirsty Smith joins West Ham United Women

West Ham United Women are delighted to announce the signing of Kirsty Smith

The 28-year-old Scotland international joins the Hammers from Manchester United on a two-year-deal, with the option of a further year.

Smith spent four seasons with the Red Devils where she played 24 times in the Barclays Women’s Super League and was also heavily involved in their Barclays Championship title winning campaign in 2018 – which saw Manchester United promoted in their first professional season.

Before that, Smith was with Hibernian where she won the Scottish domestic cup double in both 2016 and 2017.

A full-back that is comfortable on both sides, Smith becomes the Hammers’ fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Jess Ziu, Halle Houssein and Lisa Evans.

“I’m really pleased to join West Ham United,” Smith told whufc.com.

“I’ve had a really nice welcome from all of the players and staff and I’m excited for what’s to come at this Club.

“This is a fresh start for me and I’m really looking forward to working within a new environment and being part of this team.”

The arrival of Smith adds further experience to Paul Konchesky’s squad, and the Gaffer is delighted to bring the defender to the Club.

“I’m really pleased to be able to add Kirsty to our squad - I think it’s a fantastic signing for the football Club! She adds plenty of WSL experience and straight away, you can see the talent that she has when she’s out on the training pitch.

“I’m hoping that Kirsty can hit the ground running and be a really successful player for us.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Kirsty to the Club and we wish her well during her time in Claret & Blue.
