Team News: Kyvåg makes first start for West Ham United Women

Paul Konchesky has handed Thea Kyvåg her first start for West Ham United Women as they face Aston Villa in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Hammers take on an in-form Villa side at Bescot Stadium, and Kyvåg has been thrown into the starting XI having made four appearances from the bench in previous matches this season.

In total, there are five changes from West Ham United’s last match, a 2-2 draw with London City Lionesses in the Continental Tyres League Cup, with the injured Lucy Parker and Jess Ziu notable admissions. Young midfielder Keira Flannery and striker Claudia Walker also drop to the bench.

Mackenzie Arnold has played every minute for the Hammers this season, and lines up between the sticks once again in Walsall.

Risa Shimizu and Kirsty Smith are either side of the returning Hawa Cissoko and Grace Fisk in defence.

Kate Longhurst will likely be the deepest midfielder in the West Ham line-up, with Dagny Brynjarsdottir and Honoka Hayashi offering support.

Lisa Evans and Kyvåg will flank Viviane Asseyi in attack, with the forward looking to score once again after finding the back of the net last time out.

West Ham United: Arnold, Shimizu, Fisk, Cissoko, Smith, Longhurst, Brynjarsdottir, Hayashi, Evans, Asseyi, Kyvåg.
Subs: Hillyerd, Atkinson, Flannery, Filis, Snerle, Houssein, Walker.
