West Ham United Women sign France international Viviane Asseyi

West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of France international, Viviane Asseyi

The 28-year-old attacker joins the Hammers after two seasons with German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

Since featuring 42 times at several different youth age groups for her country, Asseyi has earned 55 senior caps for Les Bleues, scoring 12 times.

Asseyi began her career at US Quevilly-Rouen Métropole in Normandy as a schoolgirl, before making the move to Rouen, where she scored 23 goals in 28 appearances as a 15-year-old.

Midway through the 2009/10 season, Asseyi moved south to Montpellier and spent six years with La Paillade, making 124 appearances and scoring 43 times.

Moves to Marseille and Bordeaux followed, with her impressive goalscoring record continuing. Prior to Asseyi’s move to Bayern Munich, she scored 24 goals across two seasons for Les Girondins

Asseyi becomes Paul Konchesky’s seventh summer signing and adds significant firepower to the Hammers frontline.

“I am delighted to join West Ham United,” she told whufc.com. “It’s really good to be in England, the country of football. I’m excited to join the Club and have the opportunity to play in the Barclays Women’s Super League. It’s one of the best leagues in the world and it’s a new challenge that I’m really looking forward to.

“I spoke to Hawa (Cissoko) and she said a lot of good things about the Club. I’ve seen this first hand with Hawa - she has grown so much as a player over the last two years and I have aspirations to do the same.

“I’m very fast and I love to score goals. I’m a technical player too and I like to work hard for my teammates. I can’t wait to see what we can all achieve together.”

“Viviane is a player that we’ve been looking at for quite a long time and we’re really pleased that she’s decided to join us.

“I believe that Viviane will add something different to our forward line. She’s scored a lot of goals at both Club and international level in the past and I’m excited to see her quality in Claret & Blue”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Viviane to the Club and we wish her well during her time in Claret and Blue.
