West Ham United Women begin their Barclays Women’s Super League campaign this Sunday when they welcome Everton to east London.
The clash against the Toffees will be Paul Konchesky’s first competitive test as West Ham United boss, having taken over the role in May. It will also be the first time that Dagný Brynjarsdóttir will lead her side out as skipper, having been appointed Captain in August.
Everton, meanwhile, also have a new manager at the helm that will be making his managerial debut in the WSL. Brian Sørensen took over as Everton boss this summer after leaving Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the opening day contest.

Tickets are available from the Ticket Office at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, which will be open from 1:30pm on Sunday.

Travel…
Fans attending Sunday’s fixture at the Chigwell Construction Stadium should note that parking not available at the ground, and supporters are advised to make use of public transport.
If driving to the ground from the north, leave the M25 at Junction 27 and take the M11 towards London. At the end of the M11 continue onto the A406 towards Docklands (A13) and London City Airport. At the intersection with the A13, turn onto this road in the direction of the Dartford Crossing.
At the junction with the A1306, leave the A13 and join the A1306 towards Dagenham. At the third set of traffic lights turn left just before the McDonalds into Ballards Road. At the end of this road you will come to a large roundabout.
Turn left and proceed up Rainham Road passing Dagenham East tube station on the left and Victoria Road is a quarter of a mile further on, on the same side of the road.
If driving to the ground from the south, leave the M25 at Junction 31 and take the A13 towards Central London. Exit the A13 onto the slip road, signposted Dagenham/Dagenham East. At the end of the slip road at the double roundabout turn right, then going under the A13. At the T-junction turn left onto the A1306. At the second set of lights turn right onto the B178.
At the end of this road you will come to a large roundabout. Turn left and proceed up Rainham Road passing Dagenham East tube station on the left and Victoria Road is a quarter of a mile further on, on the same side of the road.
If travelling by London Underground, take the District Line to Dagenham East. Turn left as you come out of the station and the ground is clearly sign posted and only five minute walk away.
Team News
Emma Snerle is the only confirmed absentee for Sunday’s match against the Toffees. The midfielder has been working her way back from a foot injury that she sustained in April.
With twelve new signings over the summer, it is likely that Manager, Paul Konchesky will likely give some players their debut in Claret & Blue.
Honoka Hayashi could make her debut in east London after her deadline day move from AIK in Sweden.

Supporters and players from West Ham United and Everton will come together at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, with a minute’s silence planned before Sunday’s fixture, followed by the National Anthem. Players and coaching staff on both teams will wear black armbands.
Opposition...
Everton finished tenth in the Women’s Super League last season, although their final placing tells half the story of an eventful campaign.
The Toffees sacked Willie Kirk in October, while his replacement, Jean-Luc Vasseur, was dismissed a few months later following a run of one win in six league games. Vasseur’s final league match was a 3-0 defeat at West Ham United in January, as Everton’s WSL season became a tale of two managers and an interim boss off the field, and 12 defeats and five wins on it.
Of course, that form is not where Everton wanted to be, having aspired to disrupt the top three after a fifth-place finish in the WSL just two years ago. Now, under the guidance of Sørensen, who has been installed in the dugout this summer, Everton will hope to make a vast improvement compared to last season.
Danish coach Sørensen is the new manager of Everton. A UEFA Pro Licence coach since 2015, the 42-year-old was appointed in April 2022. He then took over on Merseyside this summer after the completion of the Danish football season.
Sørensen was previously in charge of Danish top-flight side Fortuna Hjorring, where he won two league titles and a domestic cup in two spells, while further domestic cup victories have also come in Denmark at IK Skovbakken and FC Nordsjaelland.
