Declan Rice celebrates scoring for England

Declan Rice selected for England Euro qualifiers

Declan Rice has been included in the England squad for two 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers in June.

The West Ham United captain has been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for fixtures against Malta and North Macedonia next month.

Rice and his international compatriots will head away to Malta for the first of their two fixtures on Friday 16 June, with kick-off set for 7.45pm BST at the Ta’Qali Stadium, before facing North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday 19 June. Kick-off is again set for 7.45pm BST.

The 24-year-old has earned 41 England caps since making his debut for the Three Lions against the Czech Republic in March 2019 and has scored three international goals, the most recent of which came in the last international break when Rice netted in a 2-1 UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier away to Italy.

That win at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, combined with a 2-0 victory against Ukraine, has given England a perfect start to their 2024 UEFA European Championship qualification journey.

The national side sit top of Group C after two games played and will be seeking to cement their place in the qualification spots in the latest round of international fixtures.

The 2024 Euros are set to take place between 14 June and 14 July 2024 in Germany. Berlin's Olympiastadion will stage the final on Sunday 14 July 2024.

Should Rice feature in either qualifier it will mark the first time in his England career that he has faced either Malta or North Macedonia.

First team coach Paul Nevin will also once again link up with the England squad, having resumed his duties with the Three Lions senior side in August 2021.
