As West Ham United seek to continue an unbeaten record at London Stadium in 2023, we look at our standout performers in the previous two home games...
Bowen at the double
With two goals to his name, the top-performing Hammer in the 2-0 win over Everton was Jarrod Bowen.
In our first home fixture of 2023, the No20 netted a first-half brace to secure three points from the Toffees.
His first strike arrived with 34 minutes on the clock. A deep cross from Emerson was flicked on by Kurt Zouma and Bowen poked the Hammers ahead.
The England forward did not take too long to get his second of the afternoon. Michail Antonio’s cross deflected off James Tarkowski and was rifled home by Bowen first time for his sixth Premier League goal contribution in 2022/23.
Two tidy finishes took Bowen’s total Gameweek haul to 16 – his best of the season with one point for a clean sheet, two for 90 minutes played, ten for goals scored, and three bonus points, recording a double-figure points haul in a Gameweek for the second time this season. He also achieved the feat in the home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Priced at £8.0m and with an ownership of 2.7%, Bowen also scored in the Hammers’ 2-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Derby County in January and was arguably the team’s standout performer in last weekend’s defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
With 85 FPL points to his name this season, he is West Ham’s top fantasy performer this season, and could well add to that tally this afternoon.
Emerson gives Chelsea the blues
Our 1-1 draw against Chelsea saw Emerson net his first Premier League goal and record a few FPL points too.
The Italy international has become a regular in the team in recent weeks, starting for the fourth successive league game in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last time out.
Against Chelsea, Emerson ghosted in at the back post, netting the equaliser after Vladimír Coufal’s cross was flicked into his path by Jarrod Bowen.
Solid at both ends of the pitch, the wing-back picked up six points for his goal – two for 90 minutes played, and another two in bonuses to take his Gameweek haul to ten – his best of the season.
Named in the FPL Team of the Week too, the £4.0m-priced defender also netted in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage against FCSB before Christmas and clearly carries an attacking threat.
Casey added to FPL!
Academy of Football prospect Kaelan Casey has been added to FPL!
The 18-year-old defender has been a mainstay for the U18s and U21s this season and was part of the matchday squad away to Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.
The £4.0m-priced defender, who joined the Club as a five-year-old, is yet to make his Premier League bow but has made his Irons debut in Europe when he helped maintain the Hammers’ 100 per cent record in the UEFA Europa Conference League as a substitute in the 3-0 win at FCSB in Romania in November.
Opposition One to Watch: Chris Wood
Premier League stalwart Chris Wood joined Nottingham Forest in January, when the New Zealand international signed on a loan from Newcastle United, with a view of making the move permanent in June.
A regular scorer with former clubs West Bromwich Albion and Burnley, Wood has 55 Premier League goals to his name, in addition to seven assists.
His first goal for his new club came in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City last weekend at the end of a flowing move that saw the newly-promoted Reds secure a valiant point against the defending champions.
Wood has a decent record against West Ham United too, with seven goals in 12 appearances against the Irons…
