Olli Harder is hoping that his side can be at their very best when the take on a very strong Arsenal side on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers take on the Gunners in the final Barclays FA Women’s Super League round of the season, hoping to stop their London rivals from clinching the title.
Chelsea are currently in pole position, one point ahead, but Harder is hoping a good performance from his team can see them score points and dent any chances they have of lifting the trophy.
We know that we will have to be at our very best to get a result against a very strong side
We’re really hoping that we can get back on track after a disappointing result and performance against Manchester United last weekend, and I know that the team are really looking forward to returning to play in front of their own fans.
It’s certainly been a season of improvement for this team
We are twelve points better off than we were last season and our players and staff should take pride in that fantastic achievement.
We have also achieved our highest ever points total in the WSL since West Ham turned professional and entered the division. Again, this is something that we as a Club should be incredibly proud of.
The season has presented its challenges
There are games in which we could have taken more points. However, I believe that there hasn’t been many matches in which we’ve been ‘down and out’ – we’ve certainly given our all in the majority of matches this season.
Highs include big wins against Leicester City and Everton, and a derby day win here against Tottenham Hotspur. The magnificent 2-0 win away at Manchester City, is likely to go down as the highlight of our season.
We have also performed admirably in cup competitions, having reached the semi-final of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup and the quarter-final of the Continental Tyres League Cup.
We’re facing off against a fantastic team
We will have to be at our very best to stop them from taking all three points. Jonas [Eidevall] has managed to get the very best out of his players and it’s no surprise that they are fighting for the title on the final day of the season.
However, as I said in the aforementioned City match, we know that on our day we can get a result against the very best, and that is what we are aiming for.

I have no doubts that they have really helped the team improve across the season, and I really hope that we can give them a performance to be proud of on Sunday

Tickets are on sale for the match against the Gunners right up until the 12 noon kick-off on Sunday.
Tickets will also be available to purchase at the ticket office at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, which opens at 10.30am on Sunday.
Supporters are advised to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid queues at the ticket office.
The game is also being broadcast live on BBC Two, iPlayer and on the BBC Sport website.
