Hawa Cissoko has been named in the France squad for this summer’s 2022 UEFA European Women's Football Championship.
Cissoko recently extended her contract with West Ham United after a solid 2021/22 campaign in Claret and Blue which saw her play 23 times.
The defender's impressive form saw her work her way back into the French setup, playing twice in two 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying matches against Kazahkstan in October and November 2021.
And now Cissoko will have a chance to appear at the first major tournament of her career in the same country in which she plays her club football.
Euro 2022 is being held in England and will kick-off on Wednesday 6 July, when the host nation take on Austria at Old Trafford.
France will take on Italy, Belgium and Iceland in Group D, with their matches taking place at New York Stadium, the home of newly-promoted EFL Championship club Rotherham United.
This means that Cissoko could take on her West Ham teammate Dagný Brynjarsdóttir in their final group-stage fixture on Monday 18 July, if the midfielder is named in the Icelandic squad for the tournament.
France are currently ranked third in the FIFA World Rankings and will certainly be one of the favourites to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 31 July.
