RANGERS
Pre-Season Match, Ibrox Stadium, Tuesday 19 July 2022, 7.45pm BST
West Ham United continue the build-up to the 2022/23 campaign with a pre-season match at Rangers on Tuesday evening.
The Hammers play the fifth of seven warm-up fixtures against the Scottish Premiership and UEFA Europa League runners-up at what is expected to be a bumper crowd at Ibrox Stadium.
Glasgow will play host to the Irons for the second summer in succession, with David Moyes taking his squad to Celtic last August, when the Londoners ran out 6-2 winners. However, that game was played without West Ham fans present, but the Claret and Blue Army will be at Ibrox on Tuesday evening.
The Irons are unbeaten in pre-season, with a 2-0 win at Swiss Super League side Servette followed by a 2-1 victory at EFL League One outfit Ipswich Town and 1-1 draw at National League Boreham Wood in a double-header last Tuesday evening and a 1-1 draw at EFL Championship opponents Reading on Saturday.

How to get there…
Let's work on the assumption you have already booked your flights or train travel to Glasgow.
The most convenient way to reach Ibrox Stadium is by subway. From Ibrox subway station, the Stadium is just a short walk away. From Glasgow city centre the Subway takes 10-15 minutes travelling on the Outer Circle, and just a few minutes more in the other direction on the Inner Circle. With trains arriving and departing approximately every five minutes – it is a popular choice of transport for both home and away supporters.
If you prefer to stick to the roads, buses 9, 10 and 38 link Glasgow Central Station with Ibrox Stadium.
For those supporters driving their own vehicles, parking is available in the Albion Car Park, directly opposite Ibrox Stadium. Spaces are priced at £10 and can be paid upon entry. Alternatively, if you wish to pre-book a car park space please click here, visit Rangers Ticket Centre or call 0871 702 1972 (calls cost 13p per minute plus network extras).
Families with a juvenile in their party can call 0871 702 1972 (calls cost 13p per minute plus network extras) or visit Rangers Ticket Centre to purchase a space in the Family Car Park (previously the Away Car Park) priced at £5. Spaces will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Where to stay…
There are a number of different areas of the city you should consider staying in if you are overnighting or planning a longer stay in Glasgow.
The city centre is a vibrant and convenient place to base yourself, with bars, restaurants, shops and a variety of other attractions and distractions.
To the west of the city centre on the north bank of the River Clyde, Finnieston is an up-and-coming area mixing old-school working class spots with craft beer bars, hipster restaurants and boutique shopping. With Finnieston also being home to the SEC Centre and The Hydro entertainment venues.
The West End is a mix of vintage shops, boutiques, pubs and bars and is also home to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the University of Glasgow.
What to do…
The aforementioned Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Scotland's most popular attractions and features 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying 8,000 objects. Admission is free.
Sticking with free attractions, take a walk through the unique Glasgow Necropolis, a Victorian cemetery inspired by Père Lachaise in Paris and dating back to 1833 that overlooks the city. The nearby Glasgow Cathedral was consecrated in 1197 and remains a sturdy and impressive example of Scottish gothic architecture both inside and out.
Elsewhere, there are a number of breweries and distilleries offering tours and tastings.
And if Tuesday's match is not enough, you can go for a tour of Ibrox Stadium, Celtic Park or Hampden Park, which is also home to the Scottish Football Museum.
What’s happened there before…
This fixture will mark just our second visit to Ibrox, the 50,000-seater stadium that has been home to Rangers since 1899.
West Ham’s only previous trip to the Govan district of Glasgow was in August 1979, when coach Ernie Gregory took charge of the Hammers in the four-team Tennent Caledonian Cup.
With manager John Lyall away working on transfer business, David Cross and Billy Jennings scored in a 3-2 defeat by the host club on 3 August. Kenny Watson and Gordon Smith (two) scored Rangers’ goals. Jennings was on target again in the third/fourth-place play-off against Brighton & Hove Albion on 5 August, but the Seagulls ran out 3-1 winners.
West Ham also visited Glasgow in pre-season as recently as July 2021, when Moyes’ side ran out 6-2 winners against Celtic at Parkhead, having previously drawn 2-2 with fellow Scottish Premiership club Dundee at Dens Park earlier the same month.
