Rangers v West Ham United
Pre-Season Match, Ibrox Stadium, Tuesday 19 July 2022, 7.45pm BST
West Ham United continue the build-up to the 2022/23 campaign with a pre-season match at Rangers on Tuesday evening.
The Hammers play the fifth of seven warm-up fixtures against the Scottish Premiership and UEFA Europa League runners-up in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd at Ibrox Stadium.
Glasgow will play host to the Irons for the second summer in succession, with David Moyes taking his squad to Celtic last August, when the Londoners ran out 6-2 winners. However, that game was played without West Ham fans present, but the Claret and Blue Army will be at Ibrox on Tuesday evening.
The Irons are unbeaten in pre-season, with a 2-0 win at Swiss Super League side Servette followed by a 2-1 victory at EFL League One outfit Ipswich Town and 1-1 draw at National League Boreham Wood in a double-header last Tuesday evening and a 1-1 draw at EFL Championship opponents Reading on Saturday.

Team News…
With just three pre-season matches left to play, West Ham United manager David Moyes is likely to name a strong starting XI at Ibrox Stadium.
Declan Rice could start after appearing as a half-time substitute at Reading on Saturday, while Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes will both continue their integration into the squad following their summer arrivals from Rennes and Swansea City respectively.
Craig Dawson and Tomáš Souček missed Saturday's trip to Berkshire with minor niggles.
Opposition…
Managed by former Rangers and Netherlands star Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the Gers, like West Ham United, enjoyed a memorable 2021/22 season, winning the Scottish Cup and defeating the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Braga and RB Leipzig on the way to the Europa League final, where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties.
One of the most successful clubs in the history of world football, Rangers have been crowned champions of Scotland on 55 occasions, won 34 Scottish Cups, 27 Scottish League Cups and lifted the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972.
Rangers celebrated their 150th anniversary earlier this year, having been formed by four teenage boys as they walked through West End Park in March 1872. They became one of eleven original members of the Scottish Football League in 1890, by which time they were playing in their iconic Ibrox Stadium.
The club has a longstanding rivalry with Celtic, with the two Glasgow clubs known collectively as the 'Old Firm', with the derby match between the pair among the most exciting in European football.
Rangers won nine Scottish titles in a row between 1989 and 1997, but have been crowned champions just once since 2011, in 2020/21.
Previous Meetings…
This fixture will mark just our second visit to Ibrox, the iconic 50,000-seater stadium that has been home to Rangers since 1899.
West Ham United’s only previous trip to the Govan district of Glasgow was in August 1979, when coach Ernie Gregory took charge of the Hammers in the four-team Tennent Caledonian Cup.
With manager John Lyall away working on transfer business, David Cross and Billy Jennings scored in a 3-2 defeat by the host club on 3 August. Kenny Watson and Gordon Smith (two) scored Rangers’ goals. Jennings was on target again in the third/fourth-place play-off against Brighton & Hove Albion on 5 August, but the Seagulls ran out 3-1 winners.
West Ham also visited Glasgow in pre-season as recently as July 2021, when Moyes’ side ran out 6-2 winners against Celtic at Parkhead, having previously drawn 2-2 with fellow Scottish Premiership club Dundee at Dens Park earlier the same month.
