West Ham United Women complete permanent signing of Lisa Evans

West Ham United Women are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Lisa Evans

The midfielder spent last season on loan in east London, and the Hammers have moved quickly to secure her services on a permanent basis.

Evans was a key player for the Irons last season, appearing 22 times in all competitions – helping the team to secure a sixth-place finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League, as well as strong showings in both the Vitality Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup.

The Scotland international scored three times in Claret & Blue last season and is looking forward to the upcoming campaign under new manager, Paul Konchesky.

“I’m delighted to be back with West Ham,” Evans told West Ham TV.

“I knew when my loan was coming to an end that I wanted to be here for the long-term. I really enjoyed being here last season and I felt like it was an unfinished chapter in my life.”

“This is a project that I want to be a part of moving forward, so it was an easy decision for me to come back here.”

Evans becomes the first signing of Konchesky’s tenure as manager and he is delighted that Evans has re-joined the Club.

“Lisa is a fantastic signing,” he told whufc.com. “Lisa was unlucky with injuries last season and I’m not sure we saw the best of her. This being said, there is no denying that when she did play, her performances had a massive impact on the team and our success.

“She’s a massive asset on and off the pitch and she’s exactly the sort of player that we need at this football Club.”

Born in Perth, Scotland in May 1992, Evans began her life in football with her local side, St Johnstone Girls, before making her move into the professional game with Glasgow City.

Originally with their reserve team, Evans helped her side win the Second Division with a 100 per cent winning record, before going on to make her first-team debut in 2009.

Evans enjoyed even further success in her homeland with Glasgow, scoring 46 goals in 39 matches across two seasons - winning the Women’s Premier League in four consecutive seasons and also winning the Women’s Cup on three occasions.

She left Scotland in 2012 to sign her first professional contract with FFC Turbine Potsdam in Germany. Evans featured 49 times for the Club, including appearances in the Champions League.

In April 2015, Evans signed a three-year contract with Frauen-Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich. During her time in Munich, she won the Frauen-Bundesliga title and reached the latter stages of the Champions League - making 32 regular season appearances across two seasons.

Evans then made the move to England - joining Arsenal in June 2017, where she played in a variety of positions for Joe Montemurro’s side.

She helped them to clinch the WSL title in her second season at the club, as well as the FA Women’s League Cup.

In total, Evans made 79 appearances for Arsenal during her four seasons at the club, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Lisa back to the Club and wish her well during her time in Claret & Blue.
