West Ham United Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Alex Hennessy.
The 17-year-old forward joins the Hammers from Arsenal after spending five years with the Gunners.
Hennessy, who resides just around the corner in Hornchurch, spent time with Barclays Championship outfit Crystal Palace last season. During her spell with the Eagles, she made nine appearances and found the back of the net once.
Now, the talented England U18 international makes the move East and is looking forward to continuing her development with the Hammers.
“It’s great to be able to join a Club that has similar ambitions to my own,” Hennessy told whufc.com.
“I want to become the best footballer that I possibly can and being at West Ham, I feel like I’m in an environment where I can do that.
“I’ve loved the first week here and learning from the experienced players within the team. I’m already looking forward to the beginning of the season.”
Paul Konchesky is pleased to add another talented youngster to his squad and is looking forward to seeing how Hennessy progresses in Claret & Blue.
“We’re delighted that Alex has decided to make the move here,” he told whufc.com.
“Last season, we showed that we’re willing to give young players an opportunity and that’s something that we want to continue to do this season – Alex is a perfect example of that.”
“Alex is a really exciting, intelligent player and has a lot of potential. I’m looking forward to seeing Alex continue her development with us this season.”
Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Alex to East London, and we wish her well during her time in Claret & Blue.
