West Ham United Women return home on Sunday 5 February at 6.45pm and you can be there to watch them in action against Arsenal!
Paul Konchesky’s side have played four times since returning from their winter break, but three of those games have been on the road, so the Hammers will no doubt be happy to be back on home turf at Victoria Road in Dagenham.
While the Irons have progressed in both the Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s League Cup, reaching the last-16 and semi-finals respectively, Konchesky’s team will be eager to bounce back from consecutive defeats in the FA Women’s Super League (WSL).
Manchester City edged a tight game 1-0 in Dagenham on 15 January before the Hammers went down to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Everton eight days later.
To their credit, they progressed to the last-four of the FA Women’s League Cup with a draw at Brighton & Hove Albion in between those losses, and scored a 2-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon.
Scoring another win over Arsenal this weekend will be no easy task, seeing as Jonas Eidevall’s Gunners have lost just one of ten WSL matches played, and the north Londoners won the reverse fixture 3-1 in Borehamwood at the end of October.
With high-profile international players set to be in action for both teams, including West Ham’s goalscoring captain and Iceland midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir, penalty-saving Australia goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold, Japan pair Risa Shimizu and Honoka Hayashi, France duo Hawa Cissoko and Viviane Asseyi, Denmark midfielder Emma Snerle and Scotland's Lisa Evans and Kirsty Smith, the stage is set for an exciting 90 minutes in east London.
